(The Featured Golf Course of Golfers Monthly)

This month we have chosen Belle Terre Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Myrtle Beach is one of the Carolina’s premier vacation destinations with many choices for the visitor in the way of casual and fine dining, entertainment and that sea coast lure of beaches and the Atlantic.

The resort is located at 4073 Hwy. 501, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, 29579 (phone 843-236-8888

The resort was completed in 1995 and features a Rees Jones designed courses featuring 27 holes including an 18 hole Championship course and a 9 hole Executive course. There are five tee sets so you have options of what best suits your style and handicap. The course features Bermuda grass on the fairways and Tidewater Grass on the Greens. The fairways offer a variety of challenges from straight through open to tree lined. There is no single signature hole for this course because Mr. Rees Jones says that "every hole on this course is a signature hole." Carts are mandatory on the Championship Course. The Executive Course does not incorporate as much water as the Championship Course. Formerly an eighteen hole course, the executive course was down-sized to nine holes in order to make way for local highway construction. However, this is still a course that allows the golfer to use every club in his bag. The fairways are rolling and contoured, and the greens are small and full of subtle undulations. You are allowed to walk this course. A third eighteen hole course is being planned, however, no date for groundbreaking has been determined.
