(Dubai is becoming a world name in sports with racing and now golf)

Move over Scotland the Emirates are coming to challenge you. The newest entrant to gain endorsement by Tim Finchem of the PGA Tour is the small Emirate of Dubai. Now not only can Dubai boast of world class formula auto racing, horse racing but also of hosting players of the European Tour for a new chance at a $10,000,000 purse.

The tournament is scheduled to begin in November 2009, at the end of the season as a Grand Finalize with the largest purse of all.

Dubai has been one upping the world for years with construction of the tallest hotel, tallest building, largest film studio an other grand projects in the Middle East, so why not the biggest purse in all of golf also?.

It will be interesting to see how popular this tournament will be with the top ranked pro’s. In spite of the docile nature of Dubai and its welcoming attitude for all things European and Western there is still the specter of problems with Islamic extremists using the tour as a potential violent statement.
